I am the chef, Yuba. Since two days ago, Mai has begged me to teach her how to cook, but for her to win at the Cooking Contest is impossible. “Hmph… Mai. Remember the time when you first made pancakes. As Mai cried, she perked her ears to listen to what Chihaya had to say.
“You said that the reason you made them was to cheer Ms. Yuba up when she was depressed, right Mai? Cooking with for someone else… Just think of that person and try cooking again.”
“Chihaya…”
“Don’t misunderstand me. I can’t make dishes while thinking of someone. But you can, OK? That’s your style.” My my. That’s not a line that fits Chihaya at all. Out-of-character, he blushed a bright red after he said this to her. I suppose elders should butt out at this point. I’ve been blessed with a kind, cute granddaughter and a promising apprentice. What a wonderful feeling.
